Okay, I'm updating, but not much because I don't have much time. Ich bin jetzt in Deutschland! It's great! I love it! And we had 6 investigators come to general conference. I love the culture. I love the food. (Except raw salmon) bit it's not actually that common to eat raw salmon. Anyway, I'll update more later. Love and miss y'all.

Gnome Depot, Big Trucks, and Soap

So first I want to tell you a little about my brother. His name is Matt. He is the middle of three boys, and he would have made a perfect only child. My mom makes homemade soap and other things. She runs her business from home. It's called Season's Essence. Anyway, Matthew is big into trying to save money. Or at least earning money. So he got this great idea to start selling some of Mom's soap. So he set up a little stand at the end of our driveway (much like a lemonade stand) and put up a sign, brought out about 30 bars of plain castile soap and started his little business venture. He called it... Gnome Depot. He thought of that all my himself. Only Matthew. Anyway, we live at the end of a cul-de-sac, so business wasn't exactly booming. After about half an hour he realized he wasn't going to make enough money doing this so he packed up his business and became a traveling salesman. He went door to door within our small neighborhood and started selling bars of soap for five dollars each. He made around 25 dollars! It was pretty funny. Finally Mom told him five wasn't fair so he had to lower the price. He must have decided that that 25 was enough because about that time he came home. Last night, as I walked by the boys' bedroom, I noticed about 20 bars of soap stashed under his bed. He must have big plans for later.

I was surprised. He must have really wanted that money. This is the same boy who said recently that when he grew up he wanted to be the horn on a 'big truck' because all he had to do was sit there and make noises and get paid for it. He's seven years old. He's an intelligent kid, but sometimes I think he has a few loose wires. :)

21-27

21. My friends and coworkers. I miss them. They threw me a little surprise party in the Skyroom at work my last night. It ended up turning into a dance party and then a 'take a picture hugging Helen' party. Finally we had to get back to work, but it was great.

22. My little brothers.

23. Photography.

24. Dill pickles - really big ones

25. My really cool yellow raincoat

26. Brian - a really good friend from home who moved to Utah just before I came home :( But I was able to see him for part of the day when he arrived, take him to a few forbidden places and have some great pizza, so it's all good.

27. DT - I'm glad I don't live there anymore, but it was great when I did. Not because of the food, or the living arrangements or the distance from classes or the cleaning checks or how much I had to pay or the fire drill things...but because everybody was great and it was a lot of fun.

It came!

So I know it's been a while. Please...no more hate mail. I have a lot of updating to do but first and foremost (because I want you all as excited and anxious as I am), it came today. But I don't know where I am going because Dad is on a business trip and he won't be home until later tonight. This is somewhat okay for me because it will be earlier. Anyway, there you have it. I'll give you the rest later...when I actually know :)

Stamp Machines

So I tear my apartment apart looking for stamps today to mail an insurance claim that I don't think I should have to mail in the first place. After coming up empty-handed, I remember that I'm not going crazy and that I know I have stamps somewhere. In a last ditch effort to find a stamp and try to save money (why buy stamps when I know that I have some already?) I look in a box that has a bunch of junk that I cleared out of my desk when I moved. Whoo hoo, a stamp! A 22 cent stamp :( Honestly, I didn't even know those existed anymore. I do not want to look for stamps anymore. I've already wasted 10 minutes. (Okay, so I'm not a patient person) I pack up and head to the Wilk. I'll buy some before work. So, I go for the smallest amount of stamps I can. You can't just buy one, apparently. I decide to buy a book of ten stamps, and for just a few extra cents, support Breast Cancer Research. A good cause, in my opinion. I put my 20 dollar bill in the machine. It was sad. I've been hanging on to that bill for a while. I push the necessary buttons and my stamps drop out...at the same time that $15.50 in CHANGE falls into the change return!! What exactly am I to do with 15 dollars in change??
